Titanium Carbonitride preparation
Ti(C, N)-based cermet is a new type of cutting tool material developed on the basis of TiC-based cermet. It is based on WC-based cermet. There are many synthesis methods, mainly including carbothermal reduction method, self-propagating combustion synthesis method, direct synthesis of titanium hydride, mechanical alloying method, plasma carbonitriding method, metal thermal reduction method, etc. Thermal reduction is considered to be a suitable method for industrial production due to its low raw materials, wide sources, simple equipment and low cost.
